A little personal.

I have a very weird rash/skin infection/hives/distusging, growing, spreading bumps on my chest and back right now that just appeared on Friday and have been increasing all weekend. It burns like hell. Will call the doc tomorrow I guess.

Busy, lazy and other things.

Been feeling very lazy lately. Also had to work late a few days, so the blog hasn't been on my mind. I was talking to S today about possibly starting a joint blog. Not sure how that would work, but it could be pretty cool. Regardless of whether or not that happens, I do want to change the banner for this site soon. Can't decide whether I want to keep a dark/black background or switch to white. May depend on the image I choose though. Knowing me, I'll be tempted to use a pic of my dog, because I am a total dog nut. Anyway, in other news, there is none at the moment. Maybe later. Peace in the Middle East.

1994

Finally got rid of some boots today that I've been wearing since middle school. Oldest shoes I have -- even older than my old football cleats!

I am such a good hubby.

What did I do for Valentine's Day?

WELL ... the first thing I did was send S some flowers at work ... which, I realized when she brought them home, weren't exactly like the ones I ordered, but the were the talk of the office nonetheless, apparently!

For dinner, I made quite the feast! Grilled porterhouse steaks ... crab dip in a homemade bread bowl ... kale ... and mashed potatoes. Nothing too fancy, but it all turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself. (Though I must admit that Sara was my sous chef, working on the Kale and potatoes.)

Now, we are relaxing in the living room ... listening to some jazz ... enjoying the night.

Happy Valentines's Day!

Bad taste.

People who have really bad taste in music (and I mean REALLY bad) make me question their judgment on virtually everything else in life.

What's happening.

Water line to the fridge started leaking yesterday. Relatively small problem, but turned into a big annoyance. However, since I am a super handyman around the house, I was able to replace the whole line from the fridge to the basement today (which was really the only to fix it). Granted, there is nothing difficult about this at all, but it was sort of a fun experiment in amateur plumbing. Success.

Parents stopped in today, which was rare. This was only the second time they've seen the place. Very short visit, but it was nice to have them come. Latest family news is they're suing my dad's surgeon for malpractice. Never a dull moment.

Quick trip to the Philly area last night included stops to Ikea and HomeGoods. At Ikea, I'm 99% sure I saw an old coworker from my first job after college. Never really liked the guy, so of course I didn't say anything.

Pretty great weekend so far, despite yesterday being ridiculously stressful, between work and the fridge leak and whatnot.

About to put on movie with S (we are both insanely tired ... only about 5 hours of sleep last night, which, for us, is not nearly enough) and enjoy the night before we both have to work in the AM.

Good night!

Iron and wine, without the iron.

Few too many drinks have put me in a much better mood than I was in earlier today. That's a good thing, trust me.

I'm not paranoid. I just don't trust you.

I've realized within the past year (and maybe this is something I can add to the 2011 year in review that I will never write) ... that when you don't fully trust someone, especially if they are close to you, it is ridiculously frustrating. Not being able to trust a stranger is pretty standard, I'd say. Not being able to trust someone close to you makes you wonder why you're close to them in the first place. I'm glad I'm not close to any heroin addicts.

Groundhog Day on Groundhog Day

What better way to celebrate The Holiday than with one of my my all-time favorite movies?

By the way, would the script for Groundhog Day still be green-lighted if it were written today? I don't think it would.

Like the potential of:

- A half-inch of ice & freezing rain
- Power outages
- My wife's work being closed
- A good reason not to leave the house
- Sleeping in
- Working my salt-laying magic
